Ο πρώτος πνευματικός οδηγός του Γέροντος Ιωσήφ του Ησυχαστού
Μὲ τὰ ἐλάχιστα βιογραφικά στοιχεῖα ποὺ μπορέσαμε μετά δυσκολίας νὰ συγκεντρώσουμε, προσπαθήσαμε νὰ παρουσιάσουμε τὴν ἱερὴ προσωπικότητα τοῦ ἐναρέτου ἱερέως τῶν Λευκῶν π. Γεωργίου Ασπροπούλου. Ἡ ὄντος ὁσία βιοτή του παρουσιάζει πολλὰ κοινὰ σημεῖα μὲ τὴν ζωὴ τῶν Ἁγίων τῆς Ἐκκλησίας μας, ὅπως τοῦ ἁγίου Ἀρσενίου τοῦ Καππαδόκη καὶ τοῦ συγχρόνου τοῦ ἁγίου, Νικολάου Πλανὰ τοῦ Ναξίου.
Ὅλοι οἱ Ἅγιοί μας ἀγωνίσθηκαν ἐπίμονα, μὲ πόθο, ζῆλο καὶ αὐταπάρνηση γιὰ νὰ μιμηθοῦν τὸν κοινό Δεσπότη καὶ ἀγωνοθέτη Χριστό. Γι’ αὐτὸ εἶναι πολὺ φυσικὸ ἡ ζωή τους νὰ παρουσιάζει κάποιες ὁμοιότητες ἂν καὶ οἱ συνθῆκες ποὺ ἐπικρατούσαν στὶς ἐποχὲς ποὺ ἔζησαν ἦταν διαφορετικές. Τὸ Εὐαγγέλιο ὅμως παραμένει ἀναλλοίωτο καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς ποὺ νέμει τα βραβεῖα, “ὁ αὐτὸς εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας”.

With the scant biographical information that we could gather, we have tried to present the holy personage of the virtuous priest of Lefkes Father George Aspropoulos. His truly holy life has many things in common with the lives of saints of our Church, such as the life Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia and the life of Saint Nicholas Planas of Naxios. All our saints struggled persistently, with longing, zeal, and self-denial, to imitate Christ, our common Master and the Judge of the contest. It is therefore very natural for their lives to have some similarities, even though the conditions that prevailed in the times they lived in were different. For the Gospel remains unchanged, and Jesus Christ, Who distributes the prizes, is the same unto the ages.
