Almsgiving leads to Sanctity
The pathway to theosis begins with the heart—and the hand—open to our neighbor.
Renowned for his compassion, love, and almsgiving, Saint John the Merciful was chosen as Patriarch, governing the Church of Alexandria for ten years as a true shepherd, safeguarding it from pagans and heretics. He was a model of meekness, charity, and love for his fellow men. All the saints have been distinguished by mercifulness, but Saint John was completely dedicated to this wonderful virtue.
